Summer is coming to a close, and apparently that means using up our Summer Break Collections by Creative Memories! We don’t coordinate their layouts ahead of time, so it was ironic we both pulled out the sunshine print to highlight on our layouts.

This session of Power hour highlighted zig zag cuts and peekaboo pockets.

Meggan shows a fun technique to create these zig zag strips for your layout. Hint: they’re not just for the corners of your layout!

Tessa offered a basic layout that can be expanded with the use of 4×6″ or 5×7″ peekaboo pockets. Layer a 6×12″ strip with a 6×8″ rectangle, leaving space for a journal box or title bar.

Adding Peekaboo Pockets

This layout offers space for either a 5×7″ or 4×6″ peekaboo pocket on the 6×8″ mat. A 5×7″ peekaboo is fun to use even with smaller photos. Cut a 5×7″ mat and decorate around the photo, add journaling, or cut down smaller photos to create a collage. This photo shows what will be found under the 5×7″ peekaboo on top. The Dot Tip Pens by Creative Memories are a fun way to add color and texture.

Essential Scrapbooking Tools

Having a 12″ Trimmer is a must-have for scrapbooking. Here is a video how to use it plus one from Meggan about using binder clips to cut out a frame. We also love the Creative Memories Border Maker System. Shopping links are the bottom of the post.
