Happy Summer! Be sure you join us for our Summer Scrap Scrapbooking Challenge – 8 weeks of projects designed to help you complete pages this summer. We held our Kick Off Crop this week – everything posted so far is saved in our exclusive Facebook Group.

After Meggan introduced a new technique during May Power Hour using the 12″ Decorative Trimmer, Tessa offered another basic layout using the swell option. Choosing four papers from one of Creative Memories Designer Paper Packs adds the design impact, highlighted with a few swell cuts.

Meggan folds paper to create this interesting look, perfect for highlighting one of your shape punches. Grab your repositionable tape, watch the video, and download the handout for step by step instructions.

Adding Embellishment

Embellishment can be overwhelming. So many options – what do you choose and where do you place it? A mixture of 3 elements pulling in colors from the layout creates an eye pleasing cluster. Be intentional on your placement. No need to spread embellishment all over the layout. Choose a corner to create a cluster. Add other embellishment as allowed by the layout design, but don’t over do it. The focus should remain on the photos. Less is best. You may find you want to place more embellishment on layouts that don’t have photos yet. Once you have photos, there is much less open space for the eye to travel. When in doubt, wait to embellishment until after you have your photos placed.

Having a 12″ Trimmer is a must-have for scrapbooking. Here is a video how to use it plus one from Meggan about using binder clips to cut out a frame. We also love the Creative Memories Border Maker System. Shopping links are the bottom of the post.
